Book Slang
So, I was thinking…. I bet there are a TON of words/phrases I either use on my website, or consider using, that non-readers or less passionate readers don’t understand. I DEFINITELY didn't know all the book slang terms from the start. Some of these terms I’ve STRONGLY considered adding to my reviews but then realized many people probably don’t know what they mean (I’ve debated SO MUCH with myself about switching ‘blurb’ to ‘synopsis’ in my reviews because it’s more accurate. I just don’t know if most people know what a synopsis is….????). These are the 30+ terms I think are the most important/used, but there are a TON more (I left some links at the bottom to websites with more, if you're interested). Anyways, if any of these seem super obvious and you totally think I should use them more often, let me know!!

Amazon vs. Bookshop
Soooo, I've been working with the Amazon Affiliate program for a while to make it convenient for ALL of you to directly buy books with the links I put out. BUT, recently I’ve gotten some comments mentioning independent bookstores will likely look down on me for having these, given that they pull traffic away from the bookstores (which I TOTALLY understand). I have to admit, I hadn’t even considered this😳. So, I was wrestling with whether or not I should remove ALL of my Amazon links because some people believe I should support the small businesses instead, or should I keep the links because of how convenient they are?? BUT, while I was doing some research I came across an AMAZING looking website called Bookshop that has an affiliate program similar to Amazon, but, the money from buying books there GOES DIRECTLY TO INDEPENDENT BOOKSHOPS🤩!!! This COMPLETELY solves my problem!! The only question I had left was

Oops! I did it againnnn
Does anyone else ever think/hear a phrase from a song ONCE during the day and then have it STUCK in their head FOREVER!! Yeah… that DEFINITlY happened to me today. I had 20 minutes today that had to read a book (not much of a chore to me 😊), but I didn’t have the book I was reading with me. So, I picked up a book while I was out.

I Broke my Own Rule
Okayyyyy, sooooo the thing is………… I kinda broke my own rule. I always say that (for me at least) I can never truly appreciate a book to its fullest if I’m reading two or more books at once. I ALWAYS finish one book BEFORE starting the next (even when one book is REALLY bad and I DON’T want to finish it (which actually might be the cause of some of my reading slumps…. 🤔)). Welllllll, let me explain.

StoryGraph
Yay!! I just got a StoryGraph account. For those of you who don’t know what StoryGraph is (don’t worry, I didn’t either until like, two days ago), it is an app similar to Goodreads and Fable (as far as I can tell). It doesn’t seem quite as advanced as Goodreads or Fable (no offense or anything StoryGraph). It tracks books you’ve read and shows some statistics about them. It does also have a community, I just don’t think it’s quite as big as Goodreads or Fable.

Forms
So, some of you might have noticed that I have started FILLING my pages with forms. I love the idea of having some way for all of you to let me know what you think about…..well……anything. I’ve been experimenting with making the name and the email sections required vs. optional. Obviously I would love to get all of your names and emails so that I could maybe put together some sort of newsletter. (I feel like this would be SO fun)!! But, I never want to disincline you from filling out a form because you don’t want to share your information (which I totally understand).

Fable
OOO!! I just finished getting a Fable account!! If you don’t know what Fable is (i’m honestly still trying to figure out everything it offers myself), it’s generally an app with a similar purpose to Goodreads. It tracks the books you read and you can make lists of your books. Though it ALSO gives you other interesting statistics about your reading, book clubs you can join, and plenty of specific blog posts about reading (which i’m pretty sure Goodreads doesn’t have (I think, (wait now i’m second guessing myself???( No, I think i’m right)))).

Goodreads
Alright. So, I finally got a Goodreads account!! Yay!! I’m so glad to finally have an account. The bad news though, now I have to transfer ALL of my books onto in. So, that’s clearly less good. But that’s okay. I’m transferring my books slowly but steadily. If anyone is reading this, please follow me! My name is just MK on Goodreads.

The Beginning
Hello hello!! Wow!! My first blog post. I wonder if anyone is actually going to read these one day. I hope so, but who knows. Ummmm… so what do I even write about? I’m clearly not used to this.
