My Review
Main Characters:
Pippa Fitz-Amobi- Pip is the main character in this book. She’s a senior in high school. She is persevering and passionate. She rarely lets struggles get in her way of achieving goals.
Ravi Singh- Ravi is the brother of a famous dead teenager in their town. He is 20 years old, kind, and truly loves his family.
Connor Reynolds- Connor is one of Pip’s friends. He is an easygoing, chill 18 year old.
Once again, I LOVED these characters. Pip was such a distinct, adaptive character. The side characters were less interesting to me, but the main characters were amazing!! I loved seeing them go through different stages of joy, sadness, success, and failure.
Character Rating: 8.9/10
Setting:
This book takes place in Fairview, Connecticut.
This atmosphere was great! It was suspenseful and enthralling. But, the physical setting itself was just average; nothing in particular stuck out to me.
Setting Rating: 7.7/10
Plot:
Wow! This plot was great. It had VERY similar vibes to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, so fans of that book would likely enjoy this too. It was fairly unevenly paced, but still entertaining. The mystery aspects were well built, but not the sole parts of the plot.
Plot Rating: 9.1/10
Writing:
Holly Jackson did a great job writing this young adult, mystery book. It felt very similar to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, but in a great way! Her writing was fairly in-depth and detailed for a young adult book, and constantly kept me engaged.
Writing Rating: 9.8/10
Ending:
This ending wasn’t a 100% happy ending, but was still satisfying, in my opinion. It wrapped up many loose ends, but still left room to be excited for book three.
Ending Rating: 9.4/10
The Overall:
Overall, this was a great continuation to the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series! It was engaging, had fabulous characters, and amazing writing. I loved the way Holly Jackson portrayed all the different aspects of this book. Though, the pacing was a little off, and physical setting average. But overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to finish the series!
Overall Book Rating: 8.9/10
I would obviously recommend this book
