Little White Lies book cover by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Book Cover Rating: 7.9/10

(My personal opinion)

Note: This is the cover of the book I have and I am SO upset because there is another BEAUTIFUL cover that I would TOTALLY give a 10/10, but that’s not the one I have and I’m not going to buy a duplicate just because it might have a better cover (probably……). If you plan on getting this book, DEFINITELY opt for the beautiful, pink, floral cover instead.

Hook: Sawyer Taft has never known anything but her small town life as a mechanic. Until, her rich grandma practically shows up on her doorstep. Her grandma offers her the chance of a lifetime: the chance to earn a crazy amount of money from her grandma. Sawyer’s only responsibility would be becoming a debutante in this year's season. It is completely out of her comfort zone, but she still agrees. Yes, for the money. But also for the reason of finally discovering who her father is. She has never known, but always wanted to. But, the fabulous debutantes aren’t all who they seem to be. Secrets, betrayals, and suppressed emotions are all in store this debutante season, but the real question is, can Sawyer get everything she wants from this opportunity?

Overall Book Rating: 6.9/10

I would maybe recommend this book

Review: This book was a little disappointing to me. I LOVE Jennifer Lynn Barnes and her writing. In THAT case, this book did not disappoint. The writing was spot on, and flowed naturally. However, in my opinion, the plot was over FULL of family drama. It just got to be a little too much for me. The plot also had a slower pace, which I didn’t really enjoy. The characters, however, were strong and believable. I always love how Jennifer Lynn Barnes makes characters and dialogue feel believable, and she did it again. If it wasn’t for her FABULOUS writing, this would have gotten a lower rating. Her writing wasn’t enough for me to give this book a great rating (just because the plot was not particularly interesting) though. In my opinion, this is her worst book (yeah, that changed once I read her second Debutantes book).

Main Characters:

  1. Sawyer- Sawyer is the main character in this book. She is seventeen years old and originally lives with her mom in a small town. She is rebellious, and does not like anything too fancy or over the top.

  2. Lily- Lily is Sawyer’s cousin. She is also seventeen. She originally seems polite and quiet, but has a rebellious streak as well.

  3. Saide-Grace- Saide-Grade is Sawyer’s other cousin. She is ALSO seventeen and is bubbly and constantly full of energy.

Character Rating: 7.9/10

Setting:

This book takes place in southern USA. It starts out in a SUPER small town, then moves a few cities away to a larger and nicer town/neighborhood. The setting is described well, and I love all the comparisons between the two towns.

Setting Rating: 8.4/10
